Congratulations to the 2016 Nonprofit of the Year, Summerville Family YMCA. For the past 40 years, the Summerville Family YMCA has committed to ensuring good health decisions are easy, accessible, and affordable for everyone. Their work is guided by their focus on nurturing the potential of every child, improving our community’s health, and giving back,
Every day their impact is felt when a child learns how to swim, when a cancer survivor reclaims their health, and when someone walks through their doors and feels like they belong. They can accomplish this through the generosity of donors and nearly 13,000 members who are committed to helping them address the most pressing social issues their community faces from cancer, chronic illnesses, child welfare and obesity.
They have participated in 37 health fairs and community events, not to mention the $28M impact from nearly 200,000 people each year with their annual Flowertown Festival that supports over 600 community vendors in arts, crafts, business and civic organizations.
